About
Northern Cultural is a social enterprise that supports artists, organisations and communities across the North of England. We believe the cultural life of the North is not peripheral or emergent — it is already deeply embedded in its communities, institutions and creative practitioners. What is often absent is the structural framing that allows this activity to be amplified, resourced and positioned within the national cultural landscape.
We provide the strategic and practical support required to move cultural projects from conception to delivery. That includes long-range planning, funding and bid development, programme design, and audience insight. Our emphasis is steady and infrastructural — equipping artists and organisations with the structures, partnerships and methodologies that allow projects to thrive over time.
What we stand for
Everything we do is grounded in the specific realities of the North — its geography, its communities, its funding landscape, and its cultural ambition.
We work to build lasting capacity. Our support extends beyond individual projects to help organisations develop the infrastructure for long-term cultural impact.
We prioritise working with organisations and practitioners who have historically been underserved by national cultural funding and policy.
